Piglet’s Wisdom

During the festivities,

Did you dance with the druids at the solstice?  Did you drum ‘til dawn demanding the light pierce the darkness?

Did you gorge the sacrificial turkey and scoff the pumpkin pie on the Day of Gratitude?

Did the fairy lights twinkle, then extinguish, the gaudy gift wrap strain, not quite meet at the join, then split open the last surprise gift shoved beneath the crooked Christmas tree?

Did you lower your gaze to the Diwali lamp and lift it to the fireworks streaking the sky?

Did you drop your dreidel in your latke when you opened your eighth Hanukah gift?

Did you fill the streets with ticker tape and shower champagne, or did you say,  “it’s midnight somewhere” and slip early to bed on New Year’s Eve?

However you celebrated, whatever you celebrated, can you share Piglet’s Wisdom”?

“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart,

it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.”

(A A Milne)

Hope so!

Whisky and WavesFor as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to water, especially the sea.  A favorite memory is when I was little, body-surfing on a wooden board in the North Sea.  We didn’t catch all the waves, but when we did, it was glorious to ride up on the...

Going Back

Going BackIt was Palm Sunday, March 29th, 1931, when Edith and Willie welcomed their longed-for only child, Molly, to their home. Home was a small farm on an exposed hillside in Yorkshire. Tender-hearted Willie could never bear to kill his pig when it was fattened,...
